Don't Just ASSUME

Sep 13, 2024

Assuming something will get you in trouble. A major form of communication is listening to understand, but if you still don't have clarity on something, why not ask the question(s)?

So many times we don't say anything because we feel like we need to keep the peace. We tend to try to avoid a conversation because we don't want to "stir the pot".

God never called us to keep the peace. He called us to make the peace. You can never get peace with assumptions. You can never get peace with not knowing. You may think you can, but you only supress your inner thoughts and emotions. Suppressing makes you think you're good. You're really not good!

One thing that I have learned over the years with communication is that so many of us don't know how to communicate effectively. We don't listen to understand. We listen to respond. We don't ask hard questions because we're afraid of how it may make the other person feel. We don't elaborate on our true feelings because we're afraid we might hurt someone else's.

Let me tell you something... THIS IS NOT EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION! Without effective communication, assumptions follow. When assumptions follow, judgment happens. When judgment happens, it brings a great divide.

In all you're getting, get an understanding. Don't just assume. Ask the necessary questions. Only then will you have true understanding. #Selah

Proverbs 18:2 (NIV): "Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in airing their own opinions."

There's so many more points that I want to share with you on this. I have this broken into 2 parts. Here's the 2nd part....Tune in to my podcast below. I go deeper on it. It's going to bless you. Make sure to share.
