Listen to Understand

Have you ever found yourself listening to respond. Like....you seriously can't wait for that person to finish talking because you need to go back to what they said 2 minutes ago so that you can address THAT part... because that is the ONLY part that you really heard! Yeah that part... when they had said ____________ (you fill in the blank). 😅

One of the things that I have learned in life is that it is so important to listen to understand than listen to respond. I'm still getting better at it, but I'm learning more and more why God told us that in all our getting, we need to get an understanding! It's simply the mature way to do it. Better yet... it's God's way, which is ALWAYS better than our way!

When listening to understand, the goal is to truly grasp the speaker’s perspective, emotions, and intentions. This contrasts with listening to respond, where the primary focus is often on formulating a reply or counter-argument.

The bible tells us in Proverbs... check this out... Proverbs 18:13 (NIV): "To answer before listening—that is folly and shame."

Fools rush to respond, but a wise man or woman will rush to get an understanding. Have you found yourself being "foolish" lately? #Selah

This is not to bash anyone because I believe we have all had these type of foolish moments. The question is.... are we trying to do better? Hummmm 🤔
