The POWER of Vision
Dec 07, 2024You have to be able to see it before you see it. What are you imagining for your life right now? What do you really, really want in this time and season?
I ask because if nobody else knows, you have to know. Nobody can create a vision for your life. You have to do it. As we get ready to embark on a new year, you have to prepare to go into this year knowing what you want.
There is power when you have vision. Vision brings a sense of security; it brings a sense of calmness. It's a form of self-awareness. You are not haphazardly living your life. When you have vision, you know what you want out of life!
If you are going to have a successful year, here are some key concepts that I want you to remember:
1. Write the Vision so that you can have Clarity and Focus.
- Habakkuk 2:2-3 (NIV):
“Then the Lord replied: ‘Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.’”- Key Point: Writing down the vision brings clarity. It enables us to articulate the message or direction God is giving us in a way that we and others can follow. It also keeps us focused and reminds us of God's promises.
2. Align the Vision with God’s Will.
- Proverbs 16:9 (NIV):
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”- Key Point: Our vision should be aligned with God’s will. We can make plans, but they must be submitted to God’s guidance for them to succeed. Writing a vision helps us seek and understand God’s direction.
3. You must be committed and Accountable.
- Proverbs 16:3 (NIV):
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”- Key Point: When we write down our vision, it represents a commitment. By placing it before God, we invite Him to establish and bless those plans. It also keeps us accountable to what God has revealed to us.
4. Vision Brings Life and Direction.
- Proverbs 29:18 (KJV):
“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”- Key Point: Vision provides direction and purpose. Without it, people can feel lost or lack motivation. Writing the vision ensures that you stay on course, living with purpose and following God’s guidance.
5. Wait on the Fulfillment of the Vision.
- Isaiah 40:31 (NIV):
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”- Key Point: After writing the vision, patience is necessary. Sometimes, the fulfillment of the vision takes time, but by waiting on the Lord, we can remain strong and not lose hope.
