The Silence of God

Oct 09, 2024

Have you ever been in a situation where God got real silent on you? You really needed the confirmation. You really needed to hear from Him, but instead, it felt as though you were getting the silent treatment.

I don't know about you, but I sure have been there before! It was hard to determine what to do when you really wasn't sure what God's will was for your life!

I want to give you a few hints as to what could be going on when God is silent. I had to learn these for myself, and I want to share a few with you:

1. Recognize that silence can be intimate. God’s silence may not be a sign of His displeasure, but of His trust and love. He may be silent because He wants us to rely on Him more, to grow in our faith, and to enjoy His presence. Silence can be a form of communication, a way of expressing intimacy and affection. Psalm 62:1 says, “Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.”

2. When God is silent, He is working on you and building your character so you can achieve His purpose for you. Let him work in your heart, soul and spirit. Position yourself so that you can be better than you were yesterday. That lets God know that He can trust you.
Luke 2:52  ESV And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.

3. God is silent when He is working on factors needed to help you do His will. Abraham took Isaac to be sacrificed to God out of obedience to the Word he heard from God. God was testing Abraham in his sacrifice.  God went silent for 3 days. Abraham didn't hear from God again until he provided the ram in the bush. While Abraham was obedient, God was silent. While Abraham was obedient, God had already made provision for a blessing to manifest BECAUSE of his obedience!

Genesis 22: 2 Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.”Early the next morning Abraham got up and loaded his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about. On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance.

13 Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram[a] caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son.

4. God is silent when He is fighting unseen battles that may hinder you from doing His will. Daniel prayed to God for 21 days before an angel came to let him know that God heard him on the 1st day! Even though God didn't respond on the first day, He heard Daniel on the first day. Upon hearing Daniel, God began to move in silence on Daniel's behalf. Don't think that just because God is silent that nothing is happening. God is always doing things that you know not of even in His silence!
Daniel 10:11-12
12 Then he said, "Daniel, don't be afraid. God has heard your prayers ever since the first day you decided to humble yourself in order to gain understanding. I have come in answer to your prayer.
13 The angel prince of the kingdom of Persia opposed me for twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief angels, came to help me, because I had been left there alone in Persia.

There's so many more points that I want to share with you on this. Tune in to my podcast below. I go deeper on it. It's going to bless you. Make sure to share.
